For all you out there waiting for exciting, informative updates, I had my second day of school today in WITC’s IT-Network Specialist program.
I have a fairly relaxed schedule (since I’m still working as well), and so far I like it a lot. I think I’m going to stay very interested in most of the subject materal, since it’s right up my alley.
For my Cisco class, I’m required to buy an external portable hard drive instead of a textbook. Who wouldn’t love a teacher that gives you an excuse to buy new gadgets?
We’ll be doing quite a deal of hands-on stuff also. Students in my program help run a campus Help Desk, to which other students can bring their computers and have them fixed for free.
Second year students do an internship with an area business, where they go work on computer systems/networks once a week instead of going to school.
I’m looking forward to the next two years, and I’ll keep this updated.
